Greetings!
It is my pleasure and honor to welcome you to our North San Diego County NAACP Branch 1086 website!
I'm am proud to serve as your North San Diego County NAACP Branch President!
Countless advances have been made, particularly within the last several years, but we must remain diligent and continue to be proactive with regards to combating a number of remaining disparities. Statistical studies show a disproportionately high drop-out rate number for African-American males.
The number of male and female incarcerations continues to grow. This data lets us know that there is still a great deal of work to be done! In the face of great accomplishment, there is still great need.
Our nation is facing unprecedented economic challenges! The impact has been monumental for black and brown bothers and sisters; many of which have lost homes and jobs. The "true" unemployment rate within the African American community is well above an unsatisfactory 20%! The divide between the "have" and "have not's" continues to grow. Amidst all this, there seems to be an attempt to pit Blacks against Browns in an effort to keep our collective "eye" off the "real" issues!
It is for these reasons we must come together and develop a corrective strategy. It is not too melodramatic to say that our very existance depends on solving these issues! If we can, as a nation put an African American in the White House…if we can overcome the insurmountable odds of racism and oppression faced in the past; then we have the capacity to solve our current issues!
The solution MUST involve reaching out and educating our youth. We must help them realize the enormous capacity they possess as well as the value the hard work, diligence, and education! They ARE our future leaders of tomorrow!
I challenge each of you to personally get involved and remain steadfast in your commitment for truth, justice, equality and our youth’s future!
